We hold to the Nicene Creed

We affirm the historic Nicene Creed as our primary statement of faith. All orthodox streams of Christianity affirm this creed, which dates back to the 4th century.

It is a confession of worship that forms us as the people of God and draws us together into the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Church is God’s Plan A (There is no Plan B).

The Church is God’s plan A, established over two thousand years ago, to share the good news of the risen Jesus and make disciples who follow Him. It exists to gather God’s people, form them in faith, and send them into the world to live out His mission together. The Church is a family, a bride, a body, and a living witness to the hope of Jesus in the world.

Hebrews 10:25Romans 12:4-5 Acts 2:42

We are eternal beings, created for a life with God.

We are eternal beings, created to live forever with God or apart from Him. Heaven is the promised future for those who trust in Jesus, where God’s presence, peace, and joy are fully known. Because eternity matters, our response to Christ shapes both the life we live now and the hope we carry forward.

John 3:16Romans 6:23Revelation 20:15Philippians 2:5-11

Baptism is a command from Jesus.

Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus and an outward expression of an inward transformation. It is a joyful act of obedience that symbolizes our new life in Christ and our commitment to follow Him. Through baptism, we celebrate what God has already done and step forward in faith as part of His family.

Matthew 3:16-17 Romans 6:4Colossians 2:12

God is the creator and ruler of all things.

God is holy, loving, and sovereign, actively at work in the world and in our lives. Everything begins and finds its purpose in Him, and we were created to know Him, trust Him, and live in relationship with Him.

Genesis 1:1Psalm 90:2 Matthew 28:19

Jesus is the Son of God.

Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He lived a sinless life, revealed the heart of the Father, and gave His life for the salvation of the world. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus offers forgiveness, new life, and the hope of eternal life to all who trust in Him.

John 1:1-5 Matthew 1:22-23Isaiah 9:6Acts 1:9-11

The Holy Spirit is essential.

The Holy Spirit is essential to the life of every believer. He dwells within us, empowers us to follow Jesus, and guides us into truth. Through the Spirit, we are transformed, strengthened, and equipped to live lives that honor God.

Acts 1:8Galatians 5:25Corinthians 2:12Ephesians 1:13

The Bible is God’s active, living Word.

The Bible is God’s active, living Word, given to guide, shape, and transform our lives. Through Scripture, God reveals His truth, His character, and His will for the world. As we read and obey God’s Word, we are formed in faith and equipped to follow Jesus in every area of life.

2 Timothy 3:16Proverbs 30:5Isaiah 55:11

You are made in the image of God.

You are made in the image of God, created with dignity, value, and purpose. Because of this, every person is worthy of love, respect, and compassion. Our identity is not something we earn but something we receive as a gift from God.

Genesis 1:27Psalm 139:13-16Ephesians 2:10

We live in the messy middle.

We live in the messy middle, where God’s kingdom has begun but is not yet fully realized. In this space, we experience both the beauty of redemption and the reality of brokenness. Even here, God is present, at work, and inviting us to trust Him as He brings healing, renewal, and hope.We may not agree on every non-essential topic surrounding faith, but there is always a seat at the table for you.

We affirm that the Old and New Testament Scriptures are fully inspired by God and are truthful, authoritative, and trustworthy in all they teach. The Bible is the written Word of God and the ultimate guide for faith and life, carrying the power to accomplish God’s purposes in the world. Through the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit continues to speak today, illuminating God’s truth for people in every culture and drawing the Church into a deeper understanding of the rich and multifaceted wisdom of God.

Marriage is designed by God to be a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, marked by faithfulness and self giving, sacrificial love. It is intended to be fruitful, carrying the gift and responsibility of nurturing life and caring for children. As a union of two equal yet distinct persons, marriage reflects both God’s good design in creation and His redemptive purposes in salvation.

Throughout Scripture, marriage also serves as a picture of God’s relationship with His people, pointing to the union of heaven and earth and the faithful love of Christ for the Church. At the same time, marriage is not a higher calling than singleness. Jesus lived a fully flourishing human life while single, revealing that our ultimate fulfillment is found in Him, not in marital status.

Every person, married or single, is made in the image of God and is therefore whole, dignified, and purposeful before Him. Singleness bears witness to the coming fullness of God’s Kingdom, when earthly institutions give way to the reality that God Himself will be all in all.

We hold to the historic, orthodox, and biblical understanding of human sexuality and gender. We believe God designed marriage as a covenant to be lived out in a lifelong, faithful union between one man and one woman. This design reflects God’s good purpose for love, commitment, and human flourishing.

(Genesis 1, Psalm 100, Romans 1)

The Kingdom of God is the story the Bible is telling, revealing God’s loving rule over all creation. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus inaugurates the Kingdom and reigns as King by the power of the Holy Spirit at work in and through the Church. Until Jesus returns and renews all things, the Church lives in the tension of the “now and not yet,” announcing the good news of the Kingdom and seeking to live in its reality through mercy, reconciliation, prayer, and faithful obedience as God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven.

The Church is a Kingdom community, redeemed by Jesus and formed into one new family by the Holy Spirit. Under the reign of Christ, we gather regularly to worship God, be shaped by His Word, and build one another up as we walk in the way of Jesus together. While God is present everywhere, He meets us in a unique way when we gather in Jesus’ name.

From this place of gathering, the Church is sent by the power of the Holy Spirit on mission with Jesus into the world. We live for the good of others and the glory of God, seeking to reflect God’s Kingdom through love, service, and faithful witness wherever we are.

We believe in making intentional space for the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, welcoming the Spirit to move in whatever ways God desires. At the same time, we seek to practice wisdom, discernment, and pastoral care in every context. For this reason, we eagerly desire the spiritual gifts and encourage people of all ages to grow in practicing them regularly in ways that are fitting, orderly, and rooted in love, while remaining open to the holy and sometimes surprising work of the Spirit.

Within the context of prayer ministry, spiritual gifts are exercised under pastoral leadership and with deep respect for each person present, honoring their story and their stage in the journey of faith. We seek to lead with humility and care, remembering that the purpose of the prophetic and all spiritual gifts is to strengthen, encourage, comfort, and build up the Church.

Every good gift comes from our good and generous Father. As children of God, we desire to live lives shaped by generosity, allowing the Holy Spirit to form our hearts to reflect the heart of our Father. Scripture teaches us that generosity is not simply spontaneous but intentional, practiced regularly as an act of trust and worship.

From the Old Testament practice of tithing, we learn the principle of giving regularly. The idea of first fruits invites us to honor God with the first and best of what He has entrusted to us, acknowledging that everything we have comes from Him and ultimately belongs to Him. In the New Testament, giving continues as an act of worship, brought to the gathered community of faith and offered joyfully to God. Both Jesus and the apostle Paul urge believers to give generously and willingly, not reluctantly or under pressure.

Living generously also calls us to embrace simplicity and contentment, virtues Scripture consistently commends. At Church at the Shores, we encourage followers of Jesus to give regularly, symbolically, and generously through the local church as an act of worship, gratitude, and trust in God’s faithful provision.
