ABOUT
Shawn Kennedy
I'm a pastor, writer, and encourager.
For over two decades, I have given my life to the local church, spending fifteen years serving and planting a church in San Diego before later returning to replant the church that first shared the gospel with me along the Gulf Coast. Along the way, I have walked alongside people as they learn to follow Jesus in everyday life.
In recent years, my work has centered on helping people and churches grow deeper in their life with God through simple, shared practices. Alongside my local church work, I also help lead a nonprofit that encourages and refreshes pastors while helping struggling churches experience a fresh start.
After years of leading churches through seasons of growth and change, I now devote my energy to helping people live rooted in God’s love and shaped by the way of Jesus. I am especially drawn to the slow work of forming a healthy soul.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Pastoral Ministries from Nyack College, a master’s degree in Theology, and a doctorate in Spiritual Formation and Leadership from Alliance Theological Seminary. These days, I serve as the Lead Pastor of Church at the Shores on the Gulf Coast, and spend much of my time walking, reading, praying, and paying attention to what God is doing.
I’m married to my wife Rebekah, and together we are raising our two children, Margaret and Macallan. I love good conversations, strong coffee, and will almost always say yes to Chick-fil-A.
